John Zylstra is a graduate of U Mass with a degree in Forestry (Food & Natural Resources), having worked for sawmills as a procurement forester in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York buying standing timber from landowners for the mills.  Part of a survey crew, John added to his knowledge of property services and boundary work.  John worked as a subcontractor log buyer, learning the techniques of scaling logs and utilization to maximize the value of each log.

John believes in the landowners having control of their forested lands, achieving their goals and maximum monetary benefit, VS the mills reaching unfair profit levels based on timber cutting, not looking to sustain the woodlands asset of the landowners.

John is a Certified/Cooperative Forester in NY, NJ, and PA.  He is a member of Society of American Foresters (SAF), NY Tree Farm, NY Forestland Owners Association, American Tree Farm Systems (area chairman), QDMA member and steward, and Technical Services Provider (TSP) thru NRCS.
